A Place Called There

I was sitting here thinking about times that we may have missed opportunities, or times we

had unfulfilled desires or expectations, or times that we just missed it because we weren't in the right place. We weren't where we needed to be physically, mentally or spiritually. We weren't There.

I remember missing an opportunity to see Muhammed Ali like my siblings did. I was picked up from school too late and just as I arrived to the event, he had just left. I wasn't There in time, therefore, I enjoyed the rest of the event disappointed. That experience stands out to me from my childhood, but there are many moments, times, opportunities and occasions I missed because I wasn't There. Sometimes, it was my fault for leaving late or not obeying and sometimes it was things outside my control or just other factors. What I've learned and continue to learn is that not being There can be devastating, maybe traumatic that leaves you unfulfilled inside.

In the Word, there was a famine and the Prophet Elijah was given an instruction to go There by the brook and live for awhile. There at the brook he would be fed by a raven, a dirty bird. Well the water is fine, but to be fed by something dirty is another story. Elijah could have complained, wondered, felt embarrassed or disobeyed, but he did non of that and went to where he had to go to survive. He went There. In another account when the brook dried up, God sent him There to a widow place. In the place of little, in the place of despair and plan of death, he went There to be fulfilled with what she had. He didn't look at what she had or listen to what she said. He knew he was There to live and not to die. As a result of her obedience to be in the There of her life, she, her son and Elijah were well fed and kept.

Let me encourage you today. Don't be afraid to obey and go There or to be There. The purpose of There is to fulfill destiny. The purpose of There is to be a blessing to someone else. The purpose of There is for your open doors and possibilities. The purpose of There is for protection. The purpose of There is for rest or enjoyment. The purpose of There is for provision. The purpose of There is for you to live!
