IT'S SEASONAL

As the last two months of the year are approaching, I start to see signs in stores that they're hiring for the season. I chuckle to myself, as I quickly entertain the thought of working again, even if it's only for the season.
It's seasonal struck me in my meditations this morning because the hiring sign meant that the job wasn't permanent. There would be no benefits, no bonuses, no 401k because you wouldn't be working that long to receive them according to the hiring policy. It's a temporary position that can last from one week to 3 months. There is an expiration date and those being hired understand this coming in.
We move into regions of the world understanding the climate and seasons that occur. Some areas experience the 4 seasons and you can predict when each will start, other areas the seasons last longer than others. Then there are areas where there's more of a rainy season or a tropical season. There are some areas that seem to have one season for most of the year- wintry! In this, the people understand and adjust their lives accordingly. And if they don't like it enough, they move to a place more seasonal to their liking.
We experience our own seasons in our spiritual lives. Ecclesiastes 3 tells us there's a season for everything. We will be in every season imaginable for our growth and maturity in life. Seasons come to teach us how to live, how to adjust, how to make it victoriously in life. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 encourages us that the struggles we face are momentary and prepares us for an eternal weight of glory. So there is divine purpose in every season; in every experience that we cannot deny or get around.
God expects us to go through them. That's the only way to get to the other side. That's the only way to see the conclusion of the matter. The disciples had to experience the storm, while Jesus slept in the bottom of the boat, to get to the other side. The only way the children of Israel was going to the promised land, was through the Red Sea. Jesus had to go through Samaria in order for him to meet the woman at the well. Be encouraged by the Word in Isaiah 43:2-3 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, Nor shall the flames scorch you. For I am the Lord your God...
Think about this, we are being hired for seasonal work. That whatever season you find yourself, know it's temporary and it will pass. Let's just get the lessons and pass the tests in the seasons.
