Nothing Can Hold You Down...

In my quiet time of meditation and devotion, these words rang loud to me that Nothing Can Hold You Down, but Self. When I think about Joseph, Paul and Jeremiah, they prospered in the prison; they preached in the prison, they praised in the prison, they were promoted in the prison. In other words their "prison" (cares in life) didn't define who and what they were called to be or to do. In fact they excelled ever the more.

The Bible tells and reminds us that the people of God pressed in the pain, pressed in the situations or circumstances because the temporary suffering was worth it, the fight was worth it. Watch this, God sent the children of Israel into the promised land flowing with milk and honey despite the habitation of the Canaanites, Hivites, Jebusites, Amorites, Hittites and Perizzites (all enemies). Ya'll hear me. Their focus had to be on the fruit and prosperity in the land and not what they perceived themselves to be in the land. That didn't matter to God because He gave them a promise of habitation and fruitfulness.

So can I ask you what giants are around you on the job, in the community, in your home that has your attention more than the call and assignment of God? Where are you stuck because of a prison experience or the cares in life and you don't see that God is continuing to prosper you in it? What Word have you obeyed that appears to have a different outcome or is laying dormant? Philippians reminds us in 1:6 that He who began a good work in us, will complete it....

Can I remind you as encouraging your soul, that Nothing Can Hold You Down. There is a plan and purpose still in the life that you live. God's grace is sufficient in what you put your hands to. His grace is sufficient in the fiery furnace. His grace is sufficient in the sacrifice that you're called to right now. His grace is sufficient in your service as unto Him, so be encouraged and live!
